Derek Lakey "Lake" Polite, a 46-year-old African American male, tragically passed away on June 25, 2019, in Houston, Texas. His body was discovered on the side of the road in the 10700 block of Anna Held Street. According to the medical examiner's office, Polite died from multiple gunshot wounds. The circumstances surrounding his death were deemed a homicide by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division.
Despite extensive investigations, the Houston Police Department has yet to
identify a suspect or make any arrests in connection with Polite's murder. The case remains open, and the police have sought assistance from the community to gather information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the perpetrator. Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and charging of the suspect involved in this crime.
