LaZackahri Tadarrius McDaniel, an 18-year-old male from Arlington, Texas, tragically lost his life on September 2, 2019. The incident occurred in the 1600 block of Pecan Chase Circle around 10 p.m. McDaniel was involved in a robbery and marijuana-related incident, which led to his untimely death. He was transported to a local hospital by a private citizen before being pronounced deceased.
The Arlington Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide and made two arrests in
connection with the case. On January 28, 2020, 18-year-old Shakim Parish Robinson was arrested without incident in the 200 block of Juniper Drive. Robinson was charged with capital murder and taken into custody. The following day, 19-year-old Austin Makaven Hulitt was arrested in Benbrook, Texas, and also charged with capital murder. Both suspects were believed to have known McDaniel and were involved in high-risk activities prior to the shooting.
The investigation revealed that the suspects, Robinson and Hulitt, were involved in a drug-related robbery that led to McDaniel's death. Detectives did not rule out the possibility that McDaniel and the suspects were engaged in high-risk activities before the shooting. The case remains a significant point of focus for the Arlington Police Department as they continue to gather evidence and build their case against the accused.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed McDaniel's identity and cause of death, and the investigation continues to unfold as more details become available. The community and McDaniel's family have been deeply affected by this tragic event, and the legal proceedings against Robinson and Hulitt are ongoing.
