On the night of April 26, 2025, a tragic shooting unfolded at a QuikTrip gas station in Arlington, Texas, claiming the lives of two young men and injuring a third. Among the victims was 19-year-old Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah, a male of South Asian descent. The incident occurred around 10:06 p.m. in the 5600 block of S. Cooper Street, where officers responded to reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered Abdullah and another victim, 20-year-old Omed Abdal, lying unresponsive in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead. A third individual, also 19 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to the foot but was treated and later released.
Authorities quickly detained multiple individuals at the scene, including the suspected gunman. Witnesses reported that a dispute between two groups escalated into violence. During the altercation, 17-year-old Saman Islam, a male of South Asian descent, retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and opened fire. The motive behind the confrontation remains unclear. Islam was arrested and initially booked into the Arlington City Jail before being transferred to the Tarrant County Jail. He now faces charges of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond has been set at $100,000 for the aggravated assault charge and $1,000,000 for the capital murder charge.
The Arlington Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities are working to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the deadly encounter. The loss of Abdullah and Abdal has left the community in mourning, as friends and family seek justice for the victims.
