Jasmine Newman, a 22-year-old African American woman from Port Arthur, Texas, tragically lost her life on October 20, 2019. She was an innocent bystander who was fatally shot while talking with friends outside a house in the 1100 block of Vicksburg Avenue. Jasmine was celebrating the night before her 23rd birthday when the incident occurred. Her death was described by police as a "cowardly act of violence," and she left behind two young children.
