Henry Crayton, a 55-year-old Black male, was tragically shot and killed in Dallas, Texas, on November 1, 2019. The incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. at 3100 Great Trinity Forest Way. According to police reports, Crayton was involved in a series of disturbances at the location. During one of these disturbances, he and an unknown suspect exchanged words, which escalated into a physical altercation. The suspect then pulled out a handgun and shot Crayton.
He was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The suspect's identity was not immediately released, and they remained at large following the incident.
Further investigation revealed that the altercation began outside the Plaza Now store when Crayton was approached by Antonio Dunn, a 34-year-old male. Dunn accused Crayton of exposing himself to his children, which led to an argument. The confrontation escalated, and the two men moved across the street to a vacant lot, where they began physically fighting. During the fight, Crayton allegedly took out a knife, and Dunn responded by pulling out a gun and firing at least three times at Crayton, resulting in his death. Dunn then fled the scene.
Witnesses provided crucial information to the police, helping them identify Dunn as the shooter. Surveillance video and witness statements confirmed the accusation about Crayton exposing himself to Dunn's children. Dunn was subsequently arrested and charged with murder. He admitted to killing Crayton but claimed it was in self-defense. Dunn's bond was set at $100,000, and he faced legal proceedings for the murder of Henry Crayton.
