On February 6, 2020, Derrick Johnson, a 19-year-old male from Grand Prairie, Texas, was fatally shot in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2600 block of South Forum Drive. Derrick was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the back and was later pronounced dead at a local trauma center. Detectives believe the shooting was targeted, and that Derrick and the suspect knew each other.
