Alva E. Al Besst, a 68-year-old lifelong resident of Bridgeport, Chicago, was tragically killed by a stray bullet on February 16, 2021. Besst, who was active in his community and a member of the First Trinity Lutheran Church, was driving near Halsted and 31st Street when he was struck in the head by gunfire intended for someone else. The bullet penetrated the rear window of his car, causing him to crash into a snow pile. He was rushed to Stroger Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
