Patrick Hewett, a 45-year-old male, tragically lost his life on June 22, 2020, in Houston, Texas. He was pronounced dead at the scene of a shooting incident that occurred at around 10:25 p.m. at 7900 Blue Street. Two other male victims, aged 34 and 32, were also shot and transported to area hospitals for treatment. The suspects were described as two unknown black males.
The investigation revealed that HPD patrol officers responded to a reported shooting at 6009 Eastland, where they found
one of the victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the front porch of a residence. A blood trail led from the residence to a vacant lot at 7900 Blue Street, where the second victim was found lying on the ground next to a Dodge Avenger, and Mr. Hewett was also found on the ground, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
In connection with the shooting, Michael Jackson, a 39-year-old man with a history of felony convictions, was charged with the murder of Patrick Hewett. Jackson was out on multiple felony bonds at the time of the incident. Despite his criminal history, Jackson was granted another bond for the murder charge, which raised concerns about the criminal justice system's handling of such cases. Jackson and his brother Troy Jackson were later involved in another shooting incident, and both were charged with felon in possession of a weapon.
The case remains under investigation by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, and anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers.
