Willie Earl Wright, a 28-year-old Black man from Dallas, Texas, tragically lost his life on July 31, 2020. Wright was shot multiple times while sitting in his white Mercury Grand Marquis on North Buckner Boulevard. The incident occurred around 5:06 p.m. when a silver-colored SUV pulled up next to Wright's vehicle, and individuals inside the SUV opened fire before fleeing the scene.
Wright was rushed to a nearby hospital but remained on life support until he succumbed to his injuries on August 2, 2020.
The Dallas Police Department reclassified the incident from aggravated assault to murder following Wright's death. Investigators described one of the suspects as a Black man with a goatee. Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The Dallas Police Department has been actively seeking the public's assistance and has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
