On the evening of July 21, 2024, at approximately 9:00 PM, Dallas police responded to a shooting incident in the 9800 block of Bruton Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 44-year-old Keeman Dion Bowens, known affectionately as "Smurf," lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Despite the prompt response from Dallas Fire Rescue, Bowens was pronounced dead at the scene.
