Wade Collier Parramore, a 36-year-old man from Lubbock, Texas, tragically passed away on August 27, 2020. Wade was born on November 21, 1983, in Winters, Texas, and grew up in Winters, attending Winters High School before graduating in 2002. He worked on erecting wind turbines across the country and later returned to Winters to work in the dirt construction business with his father.
At the time of his death, Wade was working with his father in Lubbock.
Wade's death occurred at the Loop 88 RV Park in the 9900 block of County Road 6900, just outside Lubbock's western city limits. According to an arrest warrant, Wade was not the intended target of the shooting. He had given a ride to Anthony Garza, who had a dispute with Curtis Jerome Smith at the RV park. Garza confronted Smith with a gun, and during the altercation, Wade was unintentionally shot by Smith. Smith initially denied involvement but later admitted to shooting Wade unintentionally.
Curtis Jerome Smith, a 26-year-old Lubbock resident, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Wade's death. Smith's girlfriend told investigators that Smith aimed his firearm at Garza during the dispute, and Wade was shot accidentally. Smith was held at the Lubbock County Detention Center, and his bail was set at $300,000.
The case was investigated by the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit, and Smith was indicted by a Lubbock County grand jury for murder. The tragic incident highlights the unintended consequences of disputes and the importance of conflict resolution.
Wade Parramore is survived by his parents, John and Christine Parramore; his children, Baylee Nicole and Hudson Ray Parramore; his sister Briana Parramore Cooper; and numerous other family members. His death has left a significant impact on his family and friends, who continue to mourn his loss.
