On February 11, 2023, at approximately 3:01 a.m., Lubbock Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1300 block of 35th Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Clifton Jermaine Holman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. The location of the incident was identified as an illegal after-hours club, suggesting that an altercation at the venue preceded the shooting.
Investigations revealed that prior to the shooting, Holman and an associate had been at a bar on 50th Street, where Holman encountered a confrontation with an individual known as "Goldie." To avoid further trouble, they left for the after-hours spot near Stubbs Park. Holman informed his companion that "Goldie," later identified by police as 50-year-old Patrick Bradley, had been the source of the earlier trouble. The situation escalated when Bradley, accompanied by a family member of a previous murder victim, approached Holman at the 35th Street location. Bradley allegedly drew a firearm and began shooting, resulting in Holman's fatal injuries.
Following the incident, the Lubbock Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Patrick Bradley, seeking public assistance in locating him. Bradley was wanted for Aggravated Assault in connection with the homicide. Subsequently, Bradley turned himself in to authorities and was taken into custody. He was booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center with bonds totaling $330,000. At the time of his arrest, Bradley also faced charges related to a 2021 robbery case.
