Michael Rivera, a 33-year-old Hispanic male, was found dead on September 26, 2020, in a motel room at the Super 7 Inn located at 10335 Gardner Road in Dallas, Texas. The discovery was made by the motel manager around noon, who immediately called authorities. Alongside Rivera, two women were also found deceased in the same room: Rachel Escamilla, 38, and Peggy Bailey, 56. The Dallas County Medical Examiner identified the victims two days later.
The incident was treated as a homicide from the outset.
The investigation led to the arrest of Efrain Cisneros, a 37-year-old male, on October 15, 2020. Cisneros was charged with capital murder for the deaths of Rivera, Escamilla, and Bailey. According to the police, surveillance footage showed Cisneros arriving at the motel in a black Ford Expedition with gray trim. He was seen knocking on the motel room door and entering before the fatal shooting occurred. After the incident, Cisneros and a female passenger fled the scene in the same vehicle. Cisneros was taken to Dallas Police Headquarters for questioning and subsequently moved to the Lew Sterrett Jail. He remains in custody with a bail set at $3 million.
The motive behind the triple homicide remains unclear, and the police have not released additional details on whether Cisneros knew the victims or how they determined he was the suspect.
