In the Walnut Park East neighborhood of St. Louis, a young man's life was cut short in a burst of gunfire on the evening of Friday, April 17, 2015. Branden Montrell Vance, a 25-year-old male, was found by police in the 5300 block of Genevieve Avenue with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The initial investigation into the shooting suggested a possible connection to a drug-related dispute. According to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a witness informed police that Vance had been involved in an argument with another man just before the fatal shot was fired. This altercation, authorities believe, may have stemmed from a disagreement over drugs.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 10:18 p.m., where they discovered Vance wounded. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he could not be saved.
