On the evening of June 29, 2015, Kansas City police officers responded to an emergency call in the 1800 block of East 76th Street Terrace. At approximately 9:48 p.m., authorities arrived at the scene, located in a residential neighborhood just east of The Paseo, now known as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered a 45-year-old White male, Kevin L. Deardorff, lying in the grass area situated between the street and the sidewalk.
