Gerardo Ramirez, a 53-year-old man from Midland, Texas, tragically died on March 13, 2021, after sustaining injuries from a drive-by shooting. He was initially taken to Midland Memorial Hospital and later transferred to a hospital in Lubbock, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 30, 2021.
The investigation into Ramirez's death led to the arrest of Arturo Reyes, a 30-year-old man from Midland. Reyes was charged with first-degree murder and held on a $1 million bond.
According to the arrest affidavit, Reyes admitted to being the driver of the vehicle used in the drive-by shooting and owning the gun used in the incident. Reyes was arrested on February 2, 2022, after police received tips and conducted interviews with witnesses.
In addition to Reyes, two other suspects, Corey Milby and Efrain Olguin, were also indicted for their involvement in the shooting. Milby and Reyes each had bonds set at $1 million, while Olguin's bond was set at $750,000. According to court records, the suspects claimed that Ramirez was not the intended target of the shooting.
