In the early hours of a Friday morning in Kansas City, the body of 19-year-old Demitri R. Reid was discovered in an alley behind the 500 block of Drury Avenue on August 7, 2015. Reid, a Black male, was found by individuals walking through the alley who immediately alerted the authorities. Upon their arrival, officers found him deceased at the scene, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Initially, the circumstances surrounding Demitri R.
Reid's death were deemed suspicious by investigators. However, following an examination by the Jackson County Medical Examiner, the case was officially classified as a homicide. His death marked the 50th homicide in Kansas City for that year.
Despite the ruling, the investigation into who was responsible for Reid's death has yielded no arrests. The case has since gone cold, and law enforcement has publicly requested that anyone with information regarding the shooting contact the Homicide Unit or the TIPS Hotline. To date, no suspects have been publicly identified, and the case remains unresolved.
