On June 29, 2021, 17-year-old Xavier Portillo was tragically shot and killed while sitting in the backseat of a friend's SUV at the intersection of Beechnut and Boone Road in southwest Houston, Texas. Xavier, a rising senior at Elsik High School, was leaving a taco truck with two friends when the incident occurred. The shooting is believed to be a case of road rage. Xavier's mother, Perla, has since been advocating for justice and urging anyone with information to come forward.
