On the night of August 9, 2021, 18-year-old Javier Alfredo Coronado, a resident of Garland, Texas, was tragically killed in a triple murder incident. The Garland Police Department responded to a gunshot wound call in the 1300 block of West Kingsley Road, where they found three males, including Javier, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The other victims were identified as 17-year-old Bryce Brittain from Lewisville and 40-year-old Jose Martinez, also from Garland. The victims were sitting outside the apartments when two gunmen appeared and opened fire on them. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but detectives believe the suspects and the victims may have communicated with each other prior to the incident.
The investigation into the triple murder led to the arrest of Maria Fernanda Molina, a 25-year-old woman, who was charged with capital murder. Investigators believe that she, along with 19-year-old Jesus Gomez, who was not yet in custody at the time, opened fire on the group during an argument at the apartment complex. Detectives were still working to identify a third suspect involved in the case. The suspects were believed to have fled the scene in a vehicle through the neighborhood surrounding the apartments.
The Garland Police Department has been actively seeking information from the public to aid in the investigation. They have requested that anyone with video surveillance in the immediate area check their cameras for footage between the hours of 10:45 pm and 11:45 pm on the night of the shooting. A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered for any information that leads to an arrest. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and identify additional suspects involved in the tragic incident.
