Julian Nikolas Angelo, a 23-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on September 30, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. His death was the result of a fatal shooting that occurred during an alleged drug deal at an apartment complex on the Northeast Side of San Antonio. According to police reports, Angelo was shot multiple times during a shootout that erupted when suspects attempted to steal narcotics from him.
Three men were arrested in connection with Angelo's death: Gary
Eugene Clark II, 26, Deymont Anthony Franklin, 23, and Jamari Nickerson. The suspects were charged with capital murder. The incident took place at the apartment complex in the 8000 block of Bentley, near Midcrown Drive and Walzem Road. Clark drove Franklin and Nickerson to the location, while Nickerson approached Angelo's vehicle with a gun. A shootout ensued, and Angelo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, Nickerson called Clark to pick him up, but their car was stopped by police officers before they could leave the apartment complex. Franklin fled on foot but was found by officers nearby. Both Franklin and Nickerson sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to area hospitals. A warrant for their arrests was issued, and all three suspects were taken into custody and held in the Bexar County Jail.
The case was prosecuted in the 437th District Court, with murder charges carrying a punishment of 5 to 99 years or life in prison, along with a possible fine of up to $10,000. The investigation revealed that the suspects had intended to rob Angelo during the drug deal, which led to the fatal confrontation.
