Leyder Vidal-Diaz, a 46-year-old man of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on October 6, 2021, in Austin, Texas. The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Palomino Trail in Southeast Austin, where Vidal-Diaz was fatally shot by his stepson, Richard Addison Nunez, during a family disturbance. Witnesses reported that the altercation escalated, leading to Nunez shooting Vidal-Diaz. Despite efforts by officers and EMS medics to save him, Vidal-Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene.
