David Brian Maxwell, a 43-year-old man from Fort Worth, tragically died on February 6, 2022, in Elgin, Texas. He was shot and killed inside his truck by Timothy Paul Bradshaw, a 45-year-old man from Elgin. The incident occurred at 1098 Deerwood Drive in the Beaukiss area near the Lee County/Williamson County border.
Bradshaw was arrested and charged with murder, unlawful restraint, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held on a $500,000 bond. During the investigation, it was revealed that Bradshaw had handcuffed a 27-year-old woman, Abigayle Leigh Haynes, to a headboard against her will and sent text messages from her phone asking Maxwell to help her with boxes because she wanted to leave. When Maxwell arrived, Bradshaw shot him twice, once in the left temple and once below the left ear.
In February 2024, Bradshaw was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 99 years in prison. He will have to serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole. Bradshaw was also found guilty on additional charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault in relation to Haynes and sentenced to two years in prison on each count. All three sentences will run concurrently.
The case drew significant attention due to the brutality of the crime and the subsequent legal proceedings. Bradshaw's defense attorney argued that he was acting in self-defense, but the court rejected this claim. The trial highlighted the importance of justice for the victims and their families, and the community closely followed the developments.
