Miguel Miranda-Hernandez, a 50-year-old man of Hispanic ethnicity, tragically lost his life on February 11, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was a remodeling subcontractor working at a North Side apartment complex. The incident occurred during an altercation with his coworker, Omar Martinez-Vargas, who was also working on the same remodeling project.
According to police reports, the argument escalated, leading Martinez-Vargas to shoot Miranda-Hernandez in the head. The body was discovered by a supervisor who went to check on the men. Martinez-Vargas was later found at a nearby gas station, still in possession of the murder weapon.
Omar Martinez-Vargas, aged 37, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to the charges in October 2023 and was subsequently sentenced to 30 years in prison for the senseless killing. Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales emphasized that the killing was unjustified and that the community rejects violence.
