Hodge, attempting to deescalate the situation, was shot by the neighbor when he came downstairs to intervene.
The Austin Police Department responded to the scene and found
Hodge with obvious trauma. Despite life-saving efforts by EMS, Hodge was pronounced dead at Dell Seton Hospital. A firearm was recovered from the scene, and a person of interest, along with a witness, were taken into custody for questioning. However, no arrests have been made in connection with Hodge's death.
Hodge's family has been vocal about seeking justice for his death. They have criticized the apartment complex's management for failing to take adequate safety measures despite a history of violent incidents.
