Avante Boyce, a 19-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on March 31, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. Boyce was the son of a well-known east San Antonio minister and community advocate, Darrell Boyce. The incident occurred in the East Meadows complex parking lot, where Boyce was shot multiple times and later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The investigation into Boyce's death led to the arrest of Vernon Dixon, Boyce's stepson-in-law. Dixon was ...
