In the early morning hours of June 4, 2016, a tragedy unfolded on a quiet street in Kansas City, Missouri, forever altering the lives of two families. Marva L. Amrine, a 53-year-old Black female, and her co-worker, Terrell K. Nance, 64, were found shot to death inside a silver Fiat in the 3800 block of Park Avenue. Both were employees at Kansas City International Airport, where Amrine worked for the Kansas City Aviation Department and Nance, though recently retired from the department, was employed by another company. The two were known to ride to work together, a routine that ended in a hail of gunfire.
Police were dispatched to the scene around 4 a.m. after reports of shots being fired. Upon arrival, they discovered Amrine and Nance inside the vehicle with its doors open. More than 20 shell casings were found near the car, indicating the violent nature of the attack. Investigators determined that both victims had been shot at close range. Friends and colleagues remembered Amrine for her infectious laugh and Nance for his joking nature, describing them as 'phenomenal individuals' who were like family to their co-workers.
In the wake of the double homicide, law enforcement began searching for a newer model black Jeep Wrangler-style vehicle with a black spare tire and a silver rim, which was seen leaving the area after the shooting. It was believed that at least two people were inside the SUV. Despite the active investigation and a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest, the case remains unsolved. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in the deaths of Marva Amrine and Terrell Nance. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department continues to list their case among its unsolved homicides, with a detective assigned to any new leads that may emerge.
