On the night of the incident, Madrazo confronted the intruders, telling them to leave. In response, Love hit Madrazo in the face with his gun before shooting him three times in the chest. Another witness was also struck with a gun by Love. The suspects fled the scene, and Madrazo was taken to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation led to the arrest of all four suspects. Love was arrested on September 19, 2022, and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He identified the other three suspects, who were subsequently arrested. Hardaway was taken into custody in December 2022, facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Wadlington was arrested on April 20, 2023, and charged with murder. Salas, the last suspect, was arrested on May 2, 2023, and charged with murder, retaliation, and evading arrest. He is currently held in Bexar County Jail on bonds totaling $253,000.
