Robert Charles "Gus" Gossert, a 33-year-old radio DJ from Knoxville, Tennessee, was found dead on August 10, 1976. He was discovered in his car on a remote part of Watt Road in West Knox County, with two .38 caliber pistol wounds to the right side of his head. Gossert, originally from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, had a colorful life, having worked in New York City radio before returning to Knoxville.
