In the summer of 2021, the life of Donald 'Donnie' Busby, a 48-year-old male, was tragically cut short in Knoxville, Tennessee. On the afternoon of July 1st, police responded to reports of a shooting and found Busby inside his car which had crashed into a telephone pole in the 4000 block of Catalpa Avenue. He was suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Paramedics rushed him to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
Busby was a husband and a father to four children. He had also served his country as a U.S. Army veteran. His family and friends remember him as an intelligent and outgoing person who loved life and had a great sense of humor. He was described as a peacemaker and a familiar face in his community, someone who was well-loved by those who knew him.
Despite the passage of time, Donald Busby's murder remains an unsolved case. As of late 2023, the Knoxville Police Department has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with his death. Investigators have stated that they are pursuing active leads, but no charges have been filed. His family continues to plead for justice, urging anyone with information to come forward to the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers. They hope that a tip from the public will finally lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for his death.
