Larry P. Childress, a 39-year-old white male, was a patrolman with the Memphis Police Department. On January 14, 1982, he was tragically killed in the line of duty. Patrolman Childress and his partner responded to a report of a home invasion robbery in the 5600 block of Shady Grove Road in Memphis, Tennessee.
