In the winter of 2018, the life of 29-year-old Nicholas Brunetti, a white male from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On the evening of January 6th, Brunetti was found in his truck in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Yale Road, having been shot five times. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and family remembered him as a fun-loving person and a devoted father to his two children.
The investigation into Brunetti's death revealed a story of betrayal and a robbery gone fatally wrong. An acquaintance, Kaci Calderon, had arranged to meet with Brunetti that evening. However, her intention was to set him up to be robbed by her boyfriend, Jamarcus Miller. During the attempted robbery, Miller shot Brunetti, leading to his untimely death. When authorities later detained Miller, he was found in possession of marijuana, a loaded firearm, and a significant amount of cash.
Both Kaci Calderon and Jamarcus Miller were subsequently arrested and faced charges for their roles in Nicholas Brunetti's murder. After legal proceedings, Jamarcus Miller was convicted of first-degree murder and received a life sentence in prison. Kaci Calderon pleaded guilty to facilitation to commit first-degree murder and was sentenced to 18 years in prison for her part in the crime that ended a young father's life.
