Do you know who killed Corrion? Corrion Allen, a 20-year-old Black man, was riding with two other men on Austin Peay Highway in Memphis when the calm of the night shattered without warning. The three were seated inside their car when another vehicle pulled alongside them, and gunfire erupted from inside the passing car. In an instant, all three men were struck multiple times, turning their vehicle into a desperate race for survival.
Bleeding and wounded, the men drove themselves to Methodist North Hospital, pushing
through shock and pain to reach help. There, Corrion Allen’s injuries proved too severe. Despite efforts to save him, he later died, leaving his companions to recount the chaos of the attack and the moments that led them to the hospital doors.
In the days that followed, investigators leaned on what the surviving victims and witnesses said they saw. Multiple witnesses later identified Jamal Bowens as the person who fired into the car. With those identifications in hand, police moved to take him into custody.
Jamal Bowens was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder. At the time of the report, it was still unclear whether additional charges would be filed in connection with Corrion Allen’s death.
