William Lee Bowlin, a 27-year-old male police officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department, was tragically shot and killed on August 4, 1982, while responding to a domestic disturbance call in East Nashville. Officer Bowlin and two other officers had been dispatched to the scene at 1213 Litton Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired.
