Sergeant Charles Lanny Bridges, aged 50, was a dedicated officer with the Covington Police Department in Tennessee. On August 14, 1997, Bridges responded to a call regarding a possible suicide. Upon arrival, he and another officer knocked on the door, and shots were fired from a window. Tragically, Bridges was killed, and another officer was wounded.
