In the late summer of 2001, the life of Katrina Whiteside, a 28-year-old African American woman from Jackson, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. On September 30, 2001, Whiteside was killed by gun violence in her hometown. The specific circumstances surrounding her death have remained largely undisclosed to the public.

Following her death, funeral services were held at the Walnut Grove Baptist Church, and she was laid to rest in the church cemetery. Her obituary noted that she was surviv ...
