In the summer of 2014, a young man’s life was tragically cut short in Jackson, Tennessee. Justin DeAndre Williams, a 20-year-old male, was found in a yard on North Royal Street on July 27th, having been shot multiple times. He was rushed to Madison County General Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Williams' death led authorities to two suspects: 23-year-old Dontavious Hendrix and 21-year-old Mondarrius Miller.
Both men were subsequently charged with second-degree murder. The investigation revealed that Williams was on the front porch of a house when a car pulled up. Williams walked over to speak with the two men who exited the vehicle. After a brief, seemingly non-confrontational conversation, gunshots rang out.
Following the shooting, Hendrix fled the state. Acting on a tip, U.S. Marshals located and arrested him in Indianapolis on September 5th. He was extradited back to Jackson and arraigned in Jackson City Court. Miller was also taken into custody and arraigned.
Dontavious Hendrix was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to twenty-five years in prison. His conviction was later upheld by the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals. Mondarrius Miller was also prosecuted for his alleged involvement in the murder of Justin Williams.
