In the late hours of September 8, 2014, in Memphis, Tennessee, a senseless act of violence claimed the life of 14-year-old Ricardo RiQuan Taylor. An African-American male, Ricardo was asleep in his bed in his family's brick duplex on the 6000 block of Quince Road when the tranquility of the night was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At least two bullets penetrated the walls of his bedroom, striking the teenager in the neck.
