In the quiet community of Taft, Tennessee, the life of 44-year-old April Wynette Grogan was tragically cut short in mid-January of 2015. A caretaker by profession and a native of Lincoln County, Grogan was a mother and grandmother, known for her Baptist faith.
On January 15, 2015, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department was called to a residence on Old Railroad Bed Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a scene that would soon be ruled a murder-suicide.
Inside the home, they found the bodies of April Grogan and her boyfriend, 47-year-old Christopher Todd Wrather.
Investigators determined that Wrather had shot and killed Grogan before turning the gun on himself. The tragic event left the community in shock and Grogan's family, including her two children and grandchildren, mourning her sudden and violent death. As the case was determined to be a murder-suicide, the investigation was concluded without any arrests.
