In the late hours of February 18, 2015, a fatal shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Roadrunner convenience store on East Unaka Avenue in Johnson City, Tennessee. When police arrived around 10:15 p.m., they found 38-year-old Perry Folk lying in the parking lot, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. A vehicle was reported to have sped away from the scene immediately after the shooting.
The investigation into the death of Perry Folk led authorities to identify two individuals in
connection with the crime. One of these men was apprehended in Massachusetts by State Police. The shooter was identified as Christopher T. Horton. His accomplice, who drove the vehicle used in the commission of the crime, was named Anthony Hardaway.
In 2016, Anthony Hardaway reached a plea agreement with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit first-degree murder for his role in the incident. Following a trial in December 2023, a Washington County jury convicted Christopher T. Horton of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Perry Folk. In February 2024, Horton, then 38, was sentenced to life in prison. This sentence is being served concurrently with a 150-month federal sentence for drug-related charges.
