In the spring of 2015, the city of Memphis was shaken by the unexpected death of Oscar 'Bo' Carr, a 63-year-old male who had recently been appointed as a Shelby County Chancellor. On the evening of Monday, April 6, 2015, Carr was discovered deceased in his vehicle in the parking lot of the Memphis Country Club. The cause of death was determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Prior to his appointment to the bench by Governor Bill Haslam in January 2015, Carr had a long and
distinguished career as a civil litigator and mediator at the Memphis law firm Glankler Brown for nearly four decades. He was a highly respected figure in the legal community, known for his knowledge of the law, patience, and sense of humor.
