In a tragic turn of events in Clarksville, Tennessee, a 32-year-old African American woman named Princess Clark lost her life in June 2015. On the evening of June 8th, Clark was at her home on Cranklen Circle when she was shot through the door. The bullet struck her in the back, and she was rushed to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Initially, her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, but her condition worsened, and she succumbed to her injuries three days later, on June 11,
2015.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified a suspect, Michael Flippen Jr., a 31-year-old man who had been in a romantic relationship with Clark. Shortly after the incident, Flippen turned himself in to the Clarksville Police Department. He was taken into custody and charged with criminal homicide and reckless endangerment. His bond was set at $600,000. The case was handled by Homicide Detective Michael Ulrey, who led the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
In the course of the legal proceedings, Michael Flippen Jr. chose to enter an open plea to the charge of second-degree murder. As a result of this plea agreement, the other charges, including reckless endangerment, were dropped. On June 6, 2017, nearly two years after Princess Clark's death, a judge sentenced Flippen to 20 years in prison. He was given credit for the time he had already served in jail prior to his sentencing.
