On the night of the Fourth of July in 2015, a sense of celebration was tragically cut short for 23-year-old Jose Luis Morales-Rodriguez in Nashville, Tennessee. He had driven a friend to the intersection of Amelia Drive and Amelia Court to visit a young woman. Shortly before midnight, while he sat waiting in his Ford Ranger, gunfire erupted, fatally wounding him.

Despite immediate efforts to save him, Morales-Rodriguez succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community in shock and a family grappling with a sudden and violent loss. The motive for the shooting remained elusive, casting a dark shadow over the holiday. Investigators with the Nashville Police Department began the arduous task of piecing together the events of that night, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case.

Years have passed since the fatal shooting, yet the case remains an open and active investigation within the police department's Cold Case Homicide Unit. To date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Jose Luis Morales-Rodriguez. Detectives continue to seek information from anyone who may have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the shooting, holding out hope that justice will eventually be served.
