In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Nashville, Tennessee, the life of 18-year-old Alisha L. Slaughter was tragically cut short. Just after midnight on June 7, 2020, Alisha was a passenger in a car with her sister and another woman. An altercation that began moments earlier escalated into deadly violence when shots were fired at their vehicle from behind. A single gunshot wound to her head would prove fatal.
Her companions rushed her to Southern Hills Medical Center, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The investigation, led by South Precinct detectives, quickly identified a dispute that preceded the shooting. Alisha, her sister, and the other woman had reportedly gone to find the ex-boyfriend of the third woman. They located him on Providence Park Lane with two other men. The situation intensified when one of the women in Alisha's car threw lemonade on one of the men's vehicles. This act led to a confrontation that culminated in the fatal shots being fired as the women drove away.
Within days, arrest warrants were issued for three Nashville men in connection with Alisha's murder. Anthony Lawrence, 21, Jeremy A. Hill, 22, and Darrien Doss, 22, were all charged with criminal homicide. The men did not remain at large for long. Lawrence surrendered to authorities on the Monday night following the incident. Hill turned himself in the next day. The final suspect, Darrien Doss, was taken into custody when he appeared in court for an unrelated matter. All three men were arrested and faced charges for their alleged roles in the death of Alisha L. Slaughter.
