On January 10, 2017, Donald Jr. Coty, a 20-year-old resident of Kansas City, Missouri, was found shot inside his vehicle near 12th Street and The Paseo. Police responded to reports of a shooting at around 8:46 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Coty seated in the driver's seat of a black vehicle, with the engine still running and the passenger-side door open. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
