In the summer of 2015, a dedicated and decorated Memphis police officer's life was tragically cut short in a fleeting and violent encounter. Sean Michael Bolton, a 33-year-old White male and a former U.S. Marine who had served a tour in Iraq, was shot and killed on the evening of August 1, 2015. He had been with the Memphis Police Department since October 2010 and was a respected member of the force.
