In the spring of 2016, the life of 22-year-old Reginald Burke Jr. was tragically cut short in what police described as a road rage shooting in Memphis, Tennessee. On March 28, 2016, Burke was driving on I-240 when an altercation with two other individuals escalated to a fatal encounter. The young man, known to his loved ones as 'Dreek,' was shot and killed.
In the wake of the shooting, family and friends gathered for an emotional candlelight vigil to mourn the loss of a man they
remembered as having a gentle and loving spirit. More than 100 people congregated to support the grieving family. His father, Reginald Burke Sr., expressed his hope that those responsible would be brought to justice, describing his son as a loner who wouldn't have instigated a conflict.
The investigation into Burke's death led to the arrest of two suspects, Tarrance Dixon and Robert Chaney. They were subsequently charged with second-degree murder. According to police reports, Dixon and Chaney admitted to shooting Burke following the altercation on the interstate. A witness reportedly followed the suspects after the incident, aiding police in their swift apprehension. The family of Reginald Burke Jr. held his funeral on April 4, 2016, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
