On April 2, 2017, Corey Joyce, a 37-year-old African American man, was fatally shot in the Carr Square neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri. The incident occurred on the 1900 block of 19th Street, where police responded to reports of gunfire and discovered Mr. Joyce suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, marking another tragic instance of gun violence in the city.
