In the Whitehaven neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, a dispute escalated into violence on the afternoon of October 10, 2016, claiming the life of Marcus De’Auntye Terry. The 27-year-old male was at the Summit Park Apartments on Piping Rock Drive when a fight broke out, leading to a shooting at approximately 1:45 p.m.
During the altercation, two individuals sustained gunshot wounds. Terry was critically injured and rushed to Regional One Health, but he did not survive.
A second person was also shot but was transported to Methodist South Hospital in non-critical condition.
In the immediate aftermath of the double shooting, law enforcement began an investigation into the deadly encounter. As of October 2016, authorities had not made any arrests in the case, and information regarding any potential suspects was not released to the public. The Memphis Police Department urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in their ongoing investigation into the homicide.
