A celebration meant to be joyous turned into a scene of tragedy in Dyersburg, Tennessee, on November 17, 2016, when 21-year-old Shanice Amerson was shot and killed. The young mother was hosting a birthday party for her two-year-old son when gunfire erupted, forever altering the lives of her family and friends who had gathered to celebrate. Amerson, a mother of two, was fatally wounded during the incident, which also resulted in injuries to seven other people, including a six-year-old child.
