In Dyersburg, Tennessee, on the morning of Saturday, September 14, 2019, the life of 38-year-old Latosha Fields, a Black/African American female, was tragically cut short in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide. Responding to a call of shots fired in the 600 block of Lake Road, police officers discovered Fields inside a residence with at least one gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The investigation into her death quickly led authorities to her boyfriend, 41-year-old Sedrick Moses. Investigators believe a domestic dispute between the couple escalated, resulting in Moses shooting Fields. After fleeing the initial scene, Moses was later found deceased from a fatal gunshot wound in the 200 block of St. Joseph Avenue. Present in the apartment at the time of the incident were two children, ages 10 and 14, who were unharmed.
The case was investigated as a murder-suicide, with Sedrick Moses identified as the sole suspect in the death of Latosha Fields. As Moses took his own life, there were no subsequent arrests or trials in connection with her murder. The community was left to mourn the loss of Fields, a mother whose life was taken in an act of domestic violence.
